Baykal Machinery undersigned a first in the world through its R&D Project

Baykal Machinery who has been working on the line Project to be used in the construction of the 7 sports stadiums for the 2022 Qatar Fifa World Cup for nearly one year pioneered a first with its fully automatic pole cutting and bending machine which is Baykal Machinery’s own design. The fully automatic cutting line with an area of 26 meters by 60 meters and has a cutting size of 2.5 meters by 14 meters saves up to 50 percent of the total processing time and works with a 0 margin of error. The line not only prevents working hazards but also eliminates the cost of labor. Baykal Machinery has completed the transportation of the line to Qatar in December last year and the line will become operational within a few months.

Sports stadiums will be built in 7 cities in Qatar as part of preparations for the 2022 World Cup 9 of the stadiums will be newly built and 3 will be renovated. The stadiums that will be built in Al-Daayen, Al-Khor, Al-Rayyan, Al-Shamal, Al-Wakrah, Doha and Umm Slal will be dismantled after the World Cup and will be sent to developing countries. The stadiums will be built by the German architecture company 'Albert Sheer & Partner' whose headquarters is located in Shanghai. Baykal Machinery’s Director of Brand Marketing Murat Bayazıt said that their unique Project including the machines that will be used in the construction of the 7 stadiums for the Qatar 2022 World Cup that will be the first World Cup to be played in the Middle East and is being organized by the Qatar Football Federation. Bayazıt who said that they received an order for a complete system of machines planned to be used in the construction of the stadiums for the Qatar 2022 World Cup about a year ago and added that this fully automatic pole cutting and bending system that they have completed was pioneering the industry in many levels and that there is no fully automate system in the world of this size and the existing systems require manual intervention. Our line whose design and loading/unloading software belong to our own engineers consist of four parts including a plasma cutting table, loading/unloading unit, bending press and plasma pipe cutting. The system has an area of 26 meters by 60 meters and has a cutting size of 2.5 meters. The system is capable of simultaneously take in or put out all the parts after cutting including the scrap material one piece at a time or all together.

Saves up to 50 percent of total processing time…

Bayazıt who emphasized that the “The Fully Automated Pole Cutting and Bending” line’s having a fully automatic structure in its material transferring section will broaden the horizons of the industry also highlighted that this also meant a time saving up to 50 percent.. Bayazıt, said: “The highest causalities in the industry are caused by worker errors. Our fully automated and unequalled line reduces production errors to zero. The system not only prevents working hazards but also eliminates the cost of labor”. Bayazıt, accentuated that they have established a plant in Qatar for the “Fully Automated Pole Cutting and Bending” line and that they will start shipments in approximately one month’s time and will become operational by the end of this year. Bayazıt who said that there will be unmanned production in the lines that will build steel constructions and lighting poles for the 2022 Fifa World Cup also emphasized that the lines will also be used for the constructions of roads, hotels and facilities required for the World Cup organization.

Bayazıt who said that they continuously developed their custom made machines and created new and different designs accordingly with the customer requirements also added the following:

“We have already begun receiving orders for our Fully Automated Pole Cutting and Bending Line from The U.S.A, Italy and Middle East countries. We as Baykal Machinery are standing out through our custom projects and have quite satisfactory references. We are realizing serious R&D projects with our team of 75 specialist engineers. We also give great importance to the co-operation of the university. We have also applied to the Ministry of Science and Industry to become an R&D center.”

Bayazıt highlighted that Baykal Machinery, founded by Hakkı Baykal in 1950 is among Türkiye’s leading companies in metal and sheet metal processing machines with its 600 employees in 3 separate plants located on 70 thousand square meters production area and a production capacity of 2 thousand machines. Bayazıt who said that they produced bending presses, guillotine sheers, punch machines, laser cutting systems, plasma cutting systems and water jet cutting systems used in the cutting, shaping and welding processes of metals and sheet metals, also added that Baykal Machinery attends over 80 exhibitions worldwide and exports 90 percent of its production under its own brand name. Bayazıt also said that they have bought Weinbrenner GmbH in 2007 a company with high technology in the industry and have strengthened their know-how infrastructure through this purchase.

The machine built by Baykal Machinery for the company who built the Freedom Tower in substitution for the World Trade Center which was destroyed in the terror attacks on September 11 is still being used. The giant AKBANT PRESS machine built in 2010 for the production of the steel construction of the Freedom Tower is 12 meters tall, has a bending capacity of 2.500 tons, weighed over 320 tons and was built for 2.5 million dollars. The company also has a 20 meter long machine with a capacity of 2.500 tons used for building train cars in Germany and another machine with a 6 thousand ton pressing power used to for bending natural gas pipes is still active in Florida U.S.A
